For the first time in history we go inside the closely guarded National Reconnaissance Office, a secret intelligence agency, to meet the men and women behind America’s spy satellite programme. ‘Spies in the Sky’ explores this place that only a few people know exists. For over 50 years the NRO has been the United States’ eyes and ears in space. The show takes you inside the National Reconnaissance office itself, speaking with the men and woman working there. Take a look inside this mysterious and previously unknown compound and the incredibly complex spy satellite systems, while exploring the development of high-tech surveillance through history.
美国国家侦察局，简称国侦局（NRO）美国国家侦察局位于美国维吉尼亚州，是美国的16个情报机构之一。该机构为美国政府设计、组装并发射侦察卫星。并协调、收集和分析从中央情报局以及军事机构的航天飞机、卫星收集到的情报。该机构得到国家侦察计划（外国情报收集计划的一部分）的拨款。该机构是国防部的组成部分之一。
